Addictive Day-to-Night Cycle

The core gameplay of Vampirio is working throughout the day to prepare for the horrors of the night. As the sun shines, it’s your job to fortify your base, collect materials, and build up your defenses. 

It’s the calm before the storm. Your preparations shape the battle ahead, but once darkness falls, you’ll need to put them to the test. The sky turns dark, the moon rises, and monsters start approaching your base. Take control of your hero and protect the fortress you spent the day building.

From the undead to dangerous dragons, you need to defeat them before they destroy your fortress. Watch out for bosses, as they’re much stronger than the mobs. They can be pretty challenging if you’re not yet equipped to deal with them.

A Roster of Unique Heroes

While Vlad Dracul is central to the story, Vampirio features other playable heroes, including Alba, Morana, and Lucian. Each has unique abilities and a different combat style.

Experiment to find which heroes work best for you, whether you prefer ranged attacks, close-range combat, or powerful magic. Switching heroes can change how you approach a run and which upgrades you choose.

You can also take the fight beyond your own fortress by raiding rival forts, stealing resources, and climbing the rankings — while risking revenge attacks in return.

A Different Build Each Run

Vampirio’s roguelike progression encourages you to experiment. During battles, your hero levels up and you choose skills from the options available, shaping your build as the fight unfolds.

Randomized upgrade choices mean you can’t rely on getting exactly the same build every time. Work with what you’re offered, try different combinations, and adapt to the enemies putting pressure on your hero and fortress.

Outside individual runs, longer-term progression through heroes, gear, and permanent upgrades gives you more ways to grow stronger.

Build Your Fortress, Then Defend It

Your hero isn’t your only line of defense. During the day, gather resources and decide how best to strengthen your fortress before the next attack.

Build walls and defensive towers, expand your base, and upgrade the defenses that need the most support. Resources need careful management, so pay attention to where enemies broke through or caused trouble the night before.

When darkness falls, your defenses and your hero need to work together. Fighting off monsters matters, but so does keeping your fortress standing.

The Story of Vlad Dracul

Vampirio explores Vlad Dracul’s life before the legend of Dracula. After monsters destroy their family and hometown, Vlad, Alba, and Radu travel to Hellsing Academy in search of power and answers.

The characters respond to tragedy in different ways, with Vlad increasingly driven by vengeance. Their journey gives the battles a personal context beyond surviving the next wave, exploring the events that set him on his path toward becoming Dracula.
