Betawatch: Monsters & Memories plunges testers into The Deep, Loftia begins

Good news, fans! It turns out that ahead of its early access, Monsters & Memories already has the two things it needs most (memories and monsters, obviously) and so it is now plunging its players into The Deep. What’s The Deep? It’s where you’re going in Monsters & Memories, obviously. It’s deep. It has Deep Elves, Deep Gnomes, and Deep zones like the Great Cavern Sea. Has “Deep” stopped seeming like a real word yet?

Because let me tell you, Loftia is not a real word, although it is the title of a game that is already starting its pre-registrations. ArcheAge S is also making plans for a second quarter 2027 release, with gameplay previews coming sooner. And in the world of launches, Legends of Aria Eternal has hit the big time, along with – to everyone’s shock – Valheim! No, really, Valheim launched at long last! That is good news, although Pantheon has had… less good news. Let’s just go with that for now.

And do I have a roundup of beta news below? You know I do, along with our full list of games in testing. And just like every week, if you notice something missing down below or if something slipped to another test phase without us noticing – or if the dork who maintains this list (who is me) forgot to update something despite someone (also me) putting in reminders – let me know down in the comments!

Camelot Unchained revamps its unpopular class XP system and cleans up movement and control Valheim enters its full release with a new biome, new gear, and some all-new mechanics ArcheAge Chronicles takes you on a whirlwind tour of its fantasy world Cinder City confirms a roster of five characters, monetization model, and upcoming test plans Pantheon Rise of the Fallen suffers layoffs as it promises to refine its development processes Dungeons and Dragons Online begins testing a major balance pass, including a new enhancement tree feat ArcheAge S Strait of Freedom plots a second quarter 2027 release window and gameplay preview this month Large-scale multiplayer FPS Wardogs will let players host 100-person servers at early access launch Legends of Aria Eternal has relaunched with the ability to run your own server Monsters & Memories plunges testers into The Deep weeks ahead of early access launch Riders of Icarus officially returns from its sunset this fall, with closed beta scheduled for September 29 Here’s all you need to know about Monsters & Memories early access, from costs to content to start times Soulframe breaks down the process of breaking down weapons for Tempers Mini MMO Farever previews new bosses and new rewards in its forthcoming Call to Glory update Lord of the Rings Online begins testing Wolves of Mordor’s neighbours system Stars Reach continues its hotfixing for crafting recipes, storage, and public events PC and mobile MMORPG Architect Land of Exiles ties down a September 16 Asian region release Palia announces a Nintendo Switch 2 release and ‘cozy’ multiplayer dungeon delves Aion 2 confirms time-delayed content from the Korean launch and a lack of crossplay Battle royale ARPG Arkheron prepares a cross-platform beta test for PC and consoles September 25 RuneScape Dragonwilds announces that its price won’t change when it makes its 1.0 launch Star Citizen readies new missions and weapons while its Pirate Week event returns Star Citizen recounts August’s efforts on tech, tools, missions, and internet spaceships Cozy MMO Loftia begins pre-registrations for this fall’s early access launch Multiplayer survivalbox Temtem Pioneers shows off house building, creatures, bosses, and pedigrees Monster Hunter Wilds Ascendance showcases some new and returning beasties in its latest trailer Fantasy sandbox Everwind gives a sneak peek of its new Arcanist starting area and claw weapons Gods, Death & Reapers aims for early access in February 2027 while its next playtest hits this month

We consider an MMO to be in open testing if it features free, public signups and will server wipe prior to launch. An MMO is marked in closed testing if it’s running a private test phase that cannot freely be accessed by the general public; it’s often under NDA as well. Early access and crowdfunded MMOs whose tests we deem legitimate will be included. So-called “open beta” soft-launch MMOs with cash shops, no sign of launch in the west, or limited interest for our readers will not be listed, nor will games that are NFT/blockchain scams; we also do not list expansions, with occasional exceptions. Finally, we’ll mark games “malingering” if they’ve been in a certain tier of development for a long time with no clear path to launch.

Yes, MMO gamers, you too can perform the unpaid quality-control work otherwise known as game testing! Check out Massively Overpowered’s Betawatch every week for a run-down of MMOs that are still on the road to launch, even if they appear to have set up a permanent residence in a shed called early access.
