The Rogue Prince of Persia First Anniversary Update Adds Speedrun and Parkour

Ubisoft and Evil Empire have released the first anniversary update for The Rogue Prince of Persia, adding new modes, combat mechanics, challenges, weapons, companions, and changes to several areas.

Two major additions are dedicated Speedrun and Parkour modes. Speedrun Mode lets players optimize routes and movement against built-in timers, while Parkour Mode focuses on wall-running, traversal, and other movement mechanics.

New Combat Zones have also been added, requiring players to survive increasingly difficult waves of enemies to progress. A new crowd-control mechanic allows enemies to be slowed or frozen during these encounters.

Daily Awakening introduces rotating daily runs featuring different modifiers and requirements. Nyamtur Trials are another new challenge scattered throughout the game’s biomes, offering legendary loot in exchange for completing higher-risk encounters. Additional high-difficulty puzzles and combat rooms have also been introduced.

Evil Empire has adjusted the pacing and difficulty of regular runs as part of the update. Earlier biomes have been shortened while their overall challenge has increased. The final Palace biome received a larger rework, including structural and difficulty changes intended for the powerful builds players can have near the end of a run.

The Prince also has some new equipment, including a slingshot weapon and a trap-style tool. Companion animals can now accompany him through Ctesiphon, providing passive or active abilities.

This action-adventure game, created by the developers of Dead Cells, is a fast-paced yet accessible roguelite that requires players to master acrobatic movement between platforming and combat.

Players will discover new weapons and upgradeable special trinkets that create distinct builds. Further, new characters and areas will be found on a quest to save Persia from a Hun invasion. The Hun army is corrupted by dark shamanic magic.

The Rogue Prince of Persia is available on PlayStation 5, Switch, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store.
