R6 Siege X ranks explained: All 40 ranks and how Ranked 3.0 works

Rainbow Six Siege X (R6 Siege X) has eight ranks, from Copper to Champion, with five divisions each for 40 total. Ranked 3.0 reworked the system in 2026, abolishing hidden MMR and adding placement matches.

Key takeaways

  • R6 Siege X has eight ranks, each split into five divisions from V to I, for 40 ranks in total.
  • Ranked 3.0 removed hidden MMR, so your Rank Points decide both your rank and your matchmaking.
  • Every season opens with five placement matches that set your starting rank.
  • Squad limits cap how far apart teammates can be in rank, except during placements.
  • Legend Division is a solo queue playlist for Champion players who pass strict account and security checks.

All eight R6 Siege X ranks in order

Ranked runs from Copper to Champion. Each Tier has five divisions, running from V to I. Champion now includes five divisions, matching the rest of the Ranked ladder.

  • Copper
  • Bronze
  • Silver
  • Gold
  • Platinum
  • Emerald
  • Diamond
  • Champion

Ranked is also gated behind account level 50.

How Ranked 3.0 changed progression

Ubisoft launched Ranked 3.0 with Operation System Override on June 2, 2026. The biggest change is that hidden MMR, a behind-the-scenes matchmaking rating, is gone. Your visible rank now reflects your skill, and matchmaking uses just your Rank Points (RP).

Rank Points (RP) and KDA

You progress through the ranked ladder through games. On average, each win grants 30 RP.

KDA does not factor into rank. Ubisoft argued that support, intel gathering, and flank watch matter as much as eliminations but are largely unquantifiable and don’t show up on the match report.

Placement Matches

Every season opens with five placement matches before you receive a starting rank. These games have boosted RP gains so returning players can return to last season’s level quicker. Placements also skip squad restrictions, so you can queue with friends of any rank for these five games.

Placements are still being tuned

Ubisoft said in a June 26 Community Checkpoint that the soft reset left many players bunched into ranks like Emerald. It plans to adjust placements, which will carry more weight in future seasons.

The developer also said it adjusted minimum RP gains and RP fairness between teammates after reviewing live data and player feedback.

Demotion Shield

If a loss would normally drop you a division, the Demotion Shield system can leave you at 0 RP in your current division instead. This acts as a safety net, so a loss streak won’t send you several tiers down.

Ranked squad restrictions

Ranked 3.0 added limits on how far apart teammates can be in rank. Ubisoft set two thresholds:

  • Copper to Emerald: teammates within three full ranks of your own
  • Diamond and Champion: teammates within two full ranks of your own

The squad’s ranks matter in matchmaking, with the higher-ranked members affecting it more heavily.

Legend Division

Legend Division is a permanent solo queue for Champion players. It arrived with the Year 11 Season 3 mid-season update and uses a more competitive ruleset than Ranked.

Ubisoft lists seven requirements to queue:

  • R6 Shieldguard Secure Platform
  • Secure Boot
  • 2-Step Account Verification
  • Currently holding the Champion rank
  • Clearance Level 200 or higher
  • Platinum rank or above in the previous season
  • Reputation Standing level three or higher

The top 100 Legend players earn a charm showing their leaderboard position at season’s end.

Rank rewards and the Competitive Rewards track

Rank-based rewards depend on the highest rank you reach in a season, even if you derank later.

Separately, every Ranked match feeds a Competitive Rewards track, which allows players to earn cosmetics and other in-game items.
